The Winners For MMA16 Are


The public’s votes were unveiled as winners in 22 categories reigned supreme for the 16th METRO FM Music Awards last night.

Held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC and broadcast on South Africa’s biggest television channel, SABC 1, the world-class awards were hosted by Metro FM’s Ms Pearl Modiadie and Amon Mokoena.

The winners walked away with not only the sought after METRO FM Music Awards statuette, but also bagged R100, 000 each!

This year’s recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award are none other than the legendary Letta Mbuli and Caiphus Semenya. These advocates of song and revolution have over the decades not only served as the melodic instruments of entertainment but have immensely contributed to the shaping and growth of our local music industry. They have also on countless occasions flown the South African flag high on the international music stage. METRO FM salutes these legends for leading the way.

Ms Sibongile Mtyali, METRO FM Station Manager stated, “We are delighted with the outcome of this year’s spectacular offering of the awards. In essence, they continue to celebrate our diverse culture and unity that music brings to our society. The Metro FM Awards stimulate interest and celebrate music excellence and we are glad that as a station, we are a part of this developmental process.
