Gettting to know Rorisang

Born in the Bloemfontein in the Free State, Rorisang Thandekiso grew up with her mother in the Vaal where her mom worked. This is where she blossomed to into her bubbly self, from wanting to be a hair dresser and owning he own hair salon to aspiring to be a world renowned super model like Naomi Campbell.

She was drawn to entertainment through television and performances but towards the end of her primary school years she got introduced to English Olympiads, public speaking and debating. She fell in love with that world through her high school years and right through varsity where she studied International Relations.

Her first radio break was at Touch Central which later became Touch HD online, where she learned a lot about radio. The people that influenced her radio interest were amongst others; Sammy T, Tim Modise, Dj Fresh, Rude Boy Paul, Unathi Nkanyi, Glen Lewis, Thomas Msengana, with Twasa and B2cada having the main influence on her because during the week her family would listened to Lesedi FM during the week and would sample other radio stations during the weekend.

Apart from radio, Rorisang is a content producer and she says it is her content producing that sparked her interests in radio, she’s also a television host and musician. She manages all of her responsibilities with honesty regarding her availability and time, so she is able to do all and deliver at the end of the day.

The “it moment” of her radio career was when she walked into the METRO FM studios for an interview where she said to her friend that she hoped she would work for METRO FM one day.

Her greatest achievement is staying relevant in South Africa and being a voice that people still want to hear.

•Her favourite food is wings and chips
•If she’d change anything about her, it’s changing her eating habits as she would like to make healthier eating choices in food.
•Her advice for someone who wants to enter the entertainment industry is “firstly figure out who you are first, as that’s what will set you apart from anyone else.
